Narrow the Divide and put #FUTUREFIRST
In an effort to narrow the divide between youth of color and the knowledge based economy, DC Youth Corps is a community-driven initiative to invest in youth of color by providing access to tech-enabled opportunities.
Beyond basic skills, technical education in areas such as mobile application development, analytics, coding and digital marketing.
Real world work experience in conjunction with skills training will allow for practical application and analysis.
Participants will go through the formal process of forming a business through the use of lean canvas to develop a business model to pitch in front of investors.
Building on a Legacy
The Marion Barry Summer Youth Employment program is a legacy initiative that was founded to provide opportunity and access to DC area youth. At its inception, SYEP put residents on a pathway to make a livable wage, purchase a home and grow a family in the District. The programs impact now spans generations as it continues to give DC Youth a leg up. As the District transitions into a knowledge-based and innovation-driven economy, there is a unique opportunity to provide the next generation of DC residents with a path to prosperity.
